WRITERS INVITED TO SUBMIT SAMPLESRegardless of your length of experience as a professional writer, critic, or journalist, feel free at any time to send a sample of your work to publisher@newmusicon.org. New Music Connoisseur has been officially invited by a governmental arts supporter to incorporate a line for honoraria for its writers and editors into its funding applications. You can check out any of the reviews published in our web site for matters of style and format, but samples submitted do not have to abide by these criteria. Our YMCAP (Young Music Critics Apprenticeship Program) is designed for talented writers under age 30. Our first YMCAP award ("Cappy") was presented in 2000 to Ms. Laurie Hudicek, now a full-time teacher of contemporary piano at the Levine School in Baltimore. Any papers written as students (graduate or undergraduate) are eligible as samples of your writing. However, we would prefer reviews covering new music of a symphonic, chamber, or theatrical compass, and any new age, progressive jazz, world, or music for the media that you are convinced is cutting edge. No discussions of standard pop, folk, rock, country, R&B, dance music, hip-hop or standard jazz fare, please. |
