The Music of Edgard Varese

It is to be expected that the year 2000, would inspire the expenditure of a great deal of ink dedicated to musings about the significance of the century that has passed. Of course, it is far too early to make an intelligent assessment, but a few general thoughts would be appropriate in light of the subject of this review. 

It is the contention of this writer, that the 20th century will be viewed as a transitional century, in which the seeds of so many developments were planted, which will influence and possibly determine the course of human life for many centuries in the future. Genetic engineering and computer technology are just two examples. 

In the art of music, in very much the same way, the work of Edgard Varèse shines like a …………………
